Minutes of Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting April 3, 2008 Vol 7, Page 137 Present: Steve Rhode, George Champeny, Nancy Vold, Rich Martinson and James Hedberg. Other present: No others. Meeting was called to order and pledge of allegiance was given. Motion was made by Champeny to approve the agenda, was seconded by Rhode and was carried. Motion was made for the approval of the previous minutes by Champeny, was seconded by Rhode and was carried. A single bid for the gravel crushing for the Town was received and reviewed by the Board. Bid came from Pitlik and Wick. Bid was to produce, crush and stockpile 10,000 cy. of gradation #2 road gravel in the town pit with the addition of clay/binder furnished by town. Price was $4.45 for a total of $44,500.00. Budget was for just for $40,000 but Pitlik agreed to stop when amount was reached. Motion was made by Champeny to accept the bid of Pitlik and Wick, motion was seconded by Rhode and was carried. Project 9743 for the agreement for partial funding of LRIP was received from the State with approval of 2/12/08 for .68 miles of Struck Road. Authorization to proceed was made in the DOT letter from Janice Watzke, program manager. Motion was made by Champeny to approve the LRIP project for Struck Road and to go out on bids. Motion was seconded by Rhode and carried. Treasurer’s report was reviewed. Fire department report on a single snowmobile accident and three incidents of lifting help. It was discussed that lifting help should be solicited by the EMS responding and that a response back from one or two should be made on the radio with EMS reporting that the crew is fully staffed. Having more than needed respond without having a person in command control the number of those responding can not continue. Control over those driving equipment must be monitored. Vold reported that PED Kits will be available to the Conover Ambulance. They contain those items that are needed for the smaller or young age group – instruments and such. Vold also reported that complaints were received in reference to identifying clothing on the responding EMS personnel and also on the cleanliness of such responders. Nancy was instructed by the board to insure that the EMS understood their responsibilities for wearing a uniform and having it clean. Shirts and jackets are provided and must be utilized when on call. Ambulance was being recalled for a tuning spark and cam shaft problem for correction. Rich Martinson reported that fuel prices are going out of sight. They may get with a company to try a bio-diesel. Pitlik will honor chip seal bids at last year’s cost if we can let them know what roads we will be doing. Bids to get in paper for opening at the May meeting. Town park pavilion was broken into on Tuesday PM. They were able to unlock the window from the height of the snowbank and then enter. When they left, they were not able to lock door because of the dead bolt. Everything was gone through. Contacted Lions and others to check to see if items were missing – flag, cookers, nesco or coffee pots. They made a “messy pile” in the toilet bowls. Grass and mowing was discussed. A price from On Course was received by Jim with prices same as last year with a 3% fuel surcharge if gas is higher than $3.00 per gallon. On Course has been very good about our yard care and the Town is happy with them and their prices. Motion was made by Champeny, seconded by Rhode to continue to contract them for these services. It was reported that the metal lids were on the containers at the Transfer Station Site. No other problems were evident. No correspondence was received. Town claims were reviewed and motion was made for adjournment at 840 p.m. by Champeny, was seconded by Rhode and was carried. James M. Hedberg Clerk-Treasurer
