April 3, 2008
Vol 7, Page 137

Present: Steve Rhode, George Champeny, Nancy Vold, Rich Martinson
and James Hedberg. Other present: No others. Meeting was called to
order and pledge of allegiance was given. Motion was made by Champeny
to approve the agenda, was seconded by Rhode and was carried. Motion
was made for the approval of the previous minutes by Champeny, was
seconded by Rhode and was carried. A single bid for the gravel
crushing for the Town was received and reviewed by the Board. Bid
came from Pitlik and Wick. Bid was to produce, crush and stockpile
10,000 cy. of gradation #2 road gravel in the town pit with the
addition of clay/binder furnished by town. Price was $4.45 for a total
of $44,500.00. Budget was for just for $40,000 but Pitlik agreed to
stop when amount was reached. Motion was made by Champeny to accept
the bid of Pitlik and Wick, motion was seconded by Rhode and was
carried. Project 9743 for the agreement for partial funding of LRIP
was received from the State with approval of 2/12/08 for .68 miles of
Struck Road. Authorization to proceed was made in the DOT letter from
Janice Watzke, program manager. Motion was made by Champeny to
approve the LRIP project for Struck Road and to go out on bids.
Motion was seconded by Rhode and carried.
Treasurer’s report was reviewed. Fire department report on a single
snowmobile accident and three incidents of lifting help. It was
discussed that lifting help should be solicited by the EMS responding
and that a response back from one or two should be made on the radio
with EMS reporting that the crew is fully staffed. Having more than
needed respond without having a person in command control the number
of those responding can not continue. Control over those driving
equipment must be monitored. Vold reported that PED Kits will be
available to the Conover Ambulance. They contain those items that are
needed for the smaller or young age group – instruments and such.
Vold also reported that complaints were received in reference to
identifying clothing on the responding EMS personnel and also on the
cleanliness of such responders. Nancy was instructed by the board to
insure that the EMS understood their responsibilities for wearing a
uniform and having it clean. Shirts and jackets are provided and must
be utilized when on call. Ambulance was being recalled for a tuning
spark and cam shaft problem for correction.
Rich Martinson reported that fuel prices are going out of sight.
They may get with a company to try a bio-diesel. Pitlik will honor
chip seal bids at last year’s cost if we can let them know what roads
we will be doing. Bids to get in paper for opening at the May
meeting.
Town park pavilion was broken into on Tuesday PM. They were able to
unlock the window from the height of the snowbank and then enter.
When they left, they were not able to lock door because of the dead
bolt. Everything was gone through. Contacted Lions and others to
check to see if items were missing – flag, cookers, nesco or coffee
pots. They made a “messy pile” in the toilet bowls. Grass and mowing
was discussed. A price from On Course was received by Jim with prices
same as last year with a 3% fuel surcharge if gas is higher than $3.00
per gallon. On Course has been very good about our yard care and the
Town is happy with them and their prices. Motion was made by
Champeny, seconded by Rhode to continue to contract them for these
services.
It was reported that the metal lids were on the containers at the
Transfer Station Site. No other problems were evident. No
correspondence was received. Town claims were reviewed and motion was
made for adjournment at 840 p.m. by Champeny, was seconded by Rhode
and was carried.

James M. Hedberg
Clerk-Treasurer
