Minutes of: Regular Monthly Town Board Meeting Thursday, July 3, 2008 7 P.M. Vol 7., Page 148 Present: Steve Rhode, George Champeny, Karl Jennrich, Rich Martinson, Nancy Vold, James Hedberg, Mark Moore, John Gaspar, John Burczyk, Fred Indermuehle, Brian Engle and Larry Stevens. Meeting was called to order, pledge of allegiance was given. Public comment was brought up by Mark Moore, President of the Stormy Lake Association. He thanked the Town for getting the landing fixed but it was stated that for any major improvement to the boat landing, a grant with funds from elsewhere would be needed. Motion was made for the approval of the agenda by Jennrich, was seconded by Champeny and was carried. Minutes of the previous meetings were approved in a motion by Champeny, was seconded by Jennrich and was carried. John Uecker was not present with any letters or agreement on the relocation of Birch Point Road. Subject was tabled. Amendment 4 to Ordinance was read and approved in a motion by Champeny, was seconded by Jennrich and was carried. With Mary Rasmussen out of town, there was no report on expenditures for the funds that were designated for the town park. It was suggested that Karl get a date that is OK with Mary and get a scheduled meeting of the park renovation committee. Rhode had requested information from SonicNet which was supposed to be mailed to the Clerk but Jim stated that there was nothing noted in his emails that referenced the wireless or sample contract. Decision on the tower and SonicNet was tabled. Information was brought up regarding Alltel and its wireless by the end of the year. Nothing was documented by means of a news release or flyer but the board in a motion by Jennrich, tabled the internet subject. Motion was seconded by Champeny and carried. Vold reported that wild fire classes were conducted and that the department had just one lifting help. Pancake breakfast scheduled for Sunday from 8 – 1 and the car show for the end of July on the 26th. Vold reported that the ambulance had 27 calls to Watersmeet with 4 no transport and six to Conover. Paramedic training is now being held at Howard Young and the travel expense is questioned by the Conover personnel. This issue needs to be addressed to John Ruhnke who was not able to attend this meeting. He did state that June calls were very much up. Rich reported that Torch Lake Road was being trimmed back and a lift put on Struck Road. Inspection made on Razorback Road and Pitlik will be patching and putting the top coating on this year. Discussion was made of the paving of intersections so that the steering axles do not dig into seal coated roads. Pioneer Creek at 4586.00, Old 26 and Ross 4314.00 and Razorback 8855.00 but amount less because Town will narrow the access at this point. Motion was made by Champeny to allow for this paving with funds coming from reserving a portion of the gravel crushing. Motion was seconded by Jennrich and was carried. Hedberg presented a summary of a meeting on the Flowage with the DNR and local residents. Facts came out that the Town put in the now sagging culvert. Hedberg stated that a petition will be presented in August to the board for the Town to replace the culvert. DNR’s Terry Cummings will be on hand to handle questions. The Town will have the responsibility of the culvert dam. Permitting will discussed in August. A bill was presented to town by Ralph Rosinski claiming that in the removal from the illegally piled snow from the East Side of the street and Highway 45, that the Town damaged his house to the tune of $105.50. Rich denies this was done by the town and the town is doing a favor for the County so that the intersection is kept with a clear view of approaching traffic. Motion was made by Jennrich to deny claim and to forward it with a letter to Vilas County. Jennrich is working on getting a pick up day for recycling and Borlick says he can handle the items on his own. Karl looking at doing it in late July or early August. Town claims were processed. Motion for adjournment was made by Jennrich, seconded by Champeny and carried at 810 p.m. James M. Hedberg (Clerk-Treasurer)
